after the cardiologist
eating mushroom Quiche
for the first time

Note: More of a Senryu than a haiku. No seasonal word attempted.
no cabbages!
a cabbage white settles
for a lavender

Kigo: “cabbage white” a proflific butterfly abundently active in Summer
oppresive heat
the cat licks its fur
from the clothes brush

New Year’s Day
a shingleback tastes
the air

afternoon heat
honey makers and honey eaters
at the water’s edge

after Xmas lunch
the quiet of the bathroom
Yuletide log

boxing day torpor
we watch the adds for
hot cross buns

bitter tannins
the sparrow rests on the road
too long

these haiku…
falling almond blossoms
in a spring breeze
